So i have been commuting to work... I HATE IT i miss my car....maybe if i was working in DC it would not be too bad but i digress.....

REST IN PEACE MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON

I reflected on the emotions of today. My sympathy for the Jackson Family, and the millions upon millions of people who where his fans. My heart goes out to his 3 children, I pray that all involved will do right by them.

I reflect back to my childhood, and why my tears at 36 flow freely for a man i never met. Through all the rumors and reports and so called "strange" or "weirdness" that it was said that Michael did, i remember Thriller. While i know he had a career well before Thriller, that is where my Michael Jackson memories start. Thriller was the first "adult" album i owned, and yes i still have it on vinyl. I loved every song on that album, i could sing every song on that album, i owned penny loafers *with quarters in them*(the start of my love of preppy), I had the buttons, posters, purses, books, etc. If it said MJ i had it, every thing but the glove and the jacket *yall know the jacket i am talking about*

Michael represents my childhood, a time that was a bit rocky cause my parents were splitting up, but the happy times of me trying to moon walk, of my family sitting around watching the Thriller Video like it was a movie. The play fights me and my Dad the uber Prince fan would have over who was better Prince or Michael *yall remember those*
MJ reperesnts those of us who were different, a little left *or right* of center. He was our retreat, our escape, and sometimes our friend. While the generation before us remembers him more as the kid who had a voice like a grown man, and the one after us remembers him as this larger than life icon, that was adored the world over.
But to my generation he is our childhood. The happy memories that we have *no matter how few there were*
This is why i cry and weap and my heart aches because it feels like my childhood the whole thing has died.

It did not even occur to me until he passed that i owe every MJ Album, Tape or CD he has released from Off The Wall on *i got off the wall after Thriller* I even have Blood on the Dance Floor on CD.....

So to Michael J. Jackson I pray you rest in peace, and know a generation of people will miss you more than you could ever imagin.

Yes i am having some car issues and so i am on the bus. I am not going all the way to DC i work in Hanover but i am still at the mercy of the MTA.....the Mighty Terrible Authority.....MTA SUCKS MONKEY BALLS.....
You know they have got to be one of the WORSE transit systems i have ever ridden...I would be suprised if they had a schedule cause they sure as hell dont fucking follow it....
Now the MARC train is cool it runs like it should but the buses?! Lawd have mercy. I have to take the 17 bus, one day it never showed up i had to call my coworker, another day i had take a cab. I have yet to take a chance on it coming on my way home, maybe i will try that tomorrow.

that is just half of it...the people that are on the bus...this is funny in its self
So i was on the bus today, some dude talking loudly about this white chick he is doing and how she is going to leave him for some football player..yes dude i needed to know all that
Friday some dude next to me farted....i swear my nose hair burned up

i find it interesting that thoes who dont support hbcu's are always the first to say what they should or should not do.

Hampton U has come under fire from their stance on the business studnets "hair" code with no locs or cornrows. Many who did not attend black schools feel that they should support studnets who sport natrual hair. I guess since i have no issue with the rule, and having attended and taught at a black school i am not suprised.
Being natrual is a trendy, for some it might be a life style but i think a lot of folks its the latest trend and theya re following it. Now most schools are run by older black folks... older folks are not always the quickest to change... so it is not suprising that they have this code.
Many places in corporate america are still very consertive and some of these trendy hair styles are not accepted. That is not to say that they are right about it.. that is to say that they need to play the game to get what they want.

HBCU's are in the business of turning childern in to adults who can get a job once they graduate. I am sure HU is doing what they think is in the students best intrest to help them obtain gainful employment in the work place... Now the students do have options, they can transfer, wear a wig, change majors, or conform to what the university says.

it is not the earth shattering, life ending thing that some hair nazi make it out to be. But i guess since my hair wont ever be nappy, i just dont get it... which is fine...that makes life interesting....

HBUC'S are a great and wonderful thing.. and until you attend one you have no idea what it is like.

Life with Hank

For the past year my father has been mad at me for something crazy, well at least i think it is crazy.
Any way he finally let me out of the dog house. I forgot how much fun it was to spend with him. My parents are divorced and life since they seperated has been much better, most of the time. my parents dont really care for each other, which is cool because they live about 800 miles apart. While i love my mother dearly and would do any thing for her, there is nothing like a woman's relationship with her father. I was Daddy's lil girl up until i was 18... which was all gravey but something happend when i hit 18 and our relationship has been rocky ever since.
maybe its because we are too much alike, we at times will go years with out speaking, which at the time was fine with me.
But this last time really chapped my butt. It was something that i got blamed for because i am the eldest and currently make the most money. I guess because my brother has my nephew he was off the hook. But he made it seem like we went out of our way to hurt him. Which was not the case...

But i have made it out of the dog house, and life with Hank is all gravy again.

No words can discribe the emptiness i feel. Although i didnt know Richard personally, i am a lover of comdey *i wish i was funny like that* Richard told it like it was and didnt bite his tougne.
He was really the first, if it had not been for richard we would not have many of the comics we have today black or white.

Richard i know will be missed by his family but even more he will be greatly missed by his millions of fans.
The world is a lil less funny now.... and there is no comedy in that.

That New Car Smell

Well as most of my friends know and my coworkers i have been shopping for a car. It has not been easy because of things i brought on my self. But any way i got a new car. I didnt want to buy one because i didnt want a car note i was enjoying living carnote free... but oh well... I have a white '05 Malibu v6... that puppy got some pick up lol.
I think i am really going to enjoy my car.... I can say this... car buying is no fun at all... i need to rent me some one to go with me next time i buy a car lol.

The Year of the EX @ Homecoming

this homecoming was the year of the ex... i saw all of them but one...
it was funny to me... the one that is from the islands still makes me weak in the knees with is accent but thats about it.... it was good to see him and know he is doing well back at home with his own biz..
The next one is the one i dated after graduation... nice buy but dating me and every one else... i liked him but i was not trying to share at all... he kept asking why i stopped calling.. i am suprised he missed me calling cause he had a tour of bootay to deal with lol... he is doing well for himself and i am happy to hear that.. he was still trying to holla... sorry you had you chance...
and to the grand daddy of them all my first bf, the one who dumped me cause i was fat *i was fat when he started dating me* i saw him and felt nothing.. great feeling... have not felt any thing for him in years, not even anger, i heard he got married... i was happy for him... he got a lil chunky too... that is just too ironic for me .... i wish i could have met his wife.. but oh well.. and funny thing is he asked about the one from the island *we all had class together he didnt know i was with the one from the island* that added to the amusement of the weekend....
All and All i had a gret time at homecoming as i usually do... i have matrued and it shows... i am not sure if like it though.. but i guess at 32 i need to act like the adult i want my family to treat me as lol
I love tuskegee and miss it dearly, it was some of the best years of my life, some of the hardest also. Tuskegee made into a woman, it taught me so much, much more than just the book knowledge that i gained. I know i can make it any where in the world having gone to tuskegee.
Homecoming is just an a reinforcement of that every year.

Halloween and Uber Holy Folks

Now i find it interesting that the ultra relgious black folks are so down for not celebrating halloween, which is the eve of all saints day, and it is touted at the "Devil's Holiday". But they will celebrate the hell of of Christmas, which is laden with pagen symbols.

Halloween is a fun time for fat kids like me... i loved free candy. I had fun dressing up, i was not worshiping any devil in doing so... My Pastor at home used to talk about how black folks get bent out of shape over this holiday. Its not the devils holiday or a pegan holiday. Infact the high holy day for pegans is Dec. 22nd the night of the winter soclists, and pegans are not devil worshipers either... but i digress....

What frosts my cookies is how people do not read for themselves about these holiday and just start spouting off bs.....

WTF? Marshell Fields is not only a great store but is a historic landmark
Marshell Feilds was one of the first department stores, and one of the pioners of customer returns.
Along with that the State Street Store *a must visit for any tourist to Chicago* is a Historic Landmark *as is the Carson's Store 2 blocks down on State Street*

Now its bad enough the Fields family sold MF to Dayton Hudson which then became the Target Corp. and they turned around and sold all the department stores *all dayton hudsons became MF* to the May company who owns Lord and Taylor *another store i love but MF is my favorite*
And Federated which owns Macy's bought May. Ok if your still with me check this out.
MF is a midwest store like Hechts is the DC/MD/VA store and Dillards is in the south.
But L&T is every where as is Bloomies. In Chicago a few of our malls have MF, L&T and Bloomies
so are they going to close 2 of the anchor stores because they are all named Macy's now?
or will you have 3 very large Macy's stores.
Will they contiue to make frang mints *a must eat from MF*?
Will they be sold in all Macy's stores?

I am just sick about this name change. Macy's is doing a great disservice to MF, L&T, Bloomies, Hectch, the list goes on and on.
Soon Macy's will be the only store.. and their clothes suck the big one.

Maybe if i was a thin woman i would not care but Macy's line for the "Fluffy Diva" leaves a lot to be desired.

I have had issues with my hair for many years. Because of my mixed bloodline my hair is different than that of most black folks. My hair is soft, thin and naturally curly/wavy. I love alot of natrual hair do's but with the lack of thickness to my hair i cant wear them.
I used to relax my hair but my hair could not take the color and the relaxer... so color won out.

I have started a hair journal to try to love my hair again... lol we shall see if it works.....
